The Tissot Superpole session for the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship was a 20-minute session full of drama and excitement with Victor Steeman (Freudenberg KTM WorldSSP Team) claiming a stunning home pole position at the TT Circuit Assen for the Prosecco DOC Dutch Round; claiming his and KTM’s first pole since Jerez 2019.

STARTING FROM THE FRONT ROW

The Dutch fans will get to see two home riders set off from the front row with reigning Champion Jeffrey Buis (MTM Kawasaki) starting second in both Race 1 and Race 2. Steeman has been fighting at the front of the field throughout 2021 and has now converted his pace into his second WorldSSP300 pole position. He set a time of 1’48.767s to claim pole position as he obliterated the lap record. Buis was around two tenths behind his countryman to secure the first Dutch 1-2 on the grid since Magny-Cours 2018. Championship leader Adrian Huertas (MTM Kawasaki) will start from the front row after he put in a late to move into third, less than a tenth away from Buis.

COMPLETING THE TOP TEN

Ton Kawakami (AD78 Team Brasil by MS Racing) continued to show his strong pace with fourth place on the grid, ahead of Tom Booth-Amos (Fusport – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki) in fifth; Booth-Amos currently lies second in the Championship but will be pleased to see Championship rival Huertas only two places ahead of him. Victor Rodriguez Nuñez (Accolade Smrz Racing) bounced back from a crash on Friday to claim a second row start for both races with sixth place.

MTM Kawasaki were represented by three riders inside the top ten with Yuta Okaya as he’ll lead the third row away from seventh place, with Turkish star Bahattin Sofuoglu (Biblion Yamaha Motoxracing) in eighth place. Frenchman Hugo de Cancellis (Prodina Team WorldSSP300) will start from ninth place while Unai Orradre (Yamaha MS Racing) completes the top ten.

TO NOTE…

Dutchman Koen Meuffels (MTM Kawasaki) will start just outside the top ten in 11^th with Meikon Kawakami (AD78 Team Brasil by MS Racing) and Ana Carrasco (Kawasaki Provec WorldSSP300) just behind; Carrasco hoping to move her way up the order to repeat her Misano race-winning success.

It was a session full of drama with a number of riders having incidents throughout the 20-minute session. Vicente Perez Selfa (Machado CAME SBK) had a crash at the final chicane but was able to recover to qualify 23^rd. Italian Marco Gaggi (Biblion Yamaha Motoxracing) came off his bike at Turn 10 and will start both races from 36^th, while Thom Molenaar (Molenaar Racing Team) and Antonio Frappola (Chiodo Moto Racing) had a coming together at the same corner; Molenaar able to return to the pits. The returning Christian Stange (2R Racing) crashed out at the final chicane but will start from 26th place and Bruno Ieraci (Machado CAME SBK) was taken to the medical centre after a crash at Turn 11.
